The Hapeville Presbyterian Church was officially organized by the Presbytery of Atlanta (now the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta) in July, 1894. In May of 1896 the first service was held in the new church located on the south corner of Central Avenue and Dogwood Drive (formerly Stewart Avenue).
In the 1920's the church began to grow and a new church was built in 1924 on North Whitney Avenue, the present location. Growth continued and peaked at 290 members in the early 1960's. The new wing containing the fellowship hall, kitchen, and rest rooms was added in 1969.
The five-rank Schantz pipe organ, Opus 1073, was installed in 1971.
Membership began to decline in the early 1970's after Hartsfield Airport began to move toward the city and families moved out of the city. Today the membership is much smaller but we are strong and involved in mission locally and world wide.
